This document describes the available commands for the Cognos 8 PCconn.bat utility.  
  
  



Resolving the problem
Open a command line window and go to the installation_location/c8/webapps/PCConn directory.
At the command line, type PCConn to launch the Cognos 8 PowerCube Connection Utility.

At the command prompt, type ?

Available commands:

connect [server:port]
Creates a connection to the dispatcher on the given server.
default: localhost:9300
If a logon is required, you will be prompted for credentials

connectURL URL
Creates a connection to the dispatcher on the given URL.

logon [namespace [username [password]]]

*Note: The namespace required in the command is not the namespace Id, rather it is the namespace label as seen on the left pane in Cognos Connection for 8.4

Allows logon to secondary namespaces.
If a logon is required, and credentials are not supplied, you will be prompted for credentials. This is not required if anonymous access is set to true or you were prompted for credentials when using the connect command.
Note that the logon command is not required in a script or an error will be generated. See example below.

disconnect server:port - disconnects from dispatcher on the given server.
disconnectall - disconnects all connections and logs off.
logoff - disconnects from all connections and logs off.
connections - lists active connections.
disable datasource[,datasource[,...]] - disables the given datasource.
enable datasource[,datasource[,...]] - reenables the given datasource.
state [datasource[,datasource[,...]]] - shows state of the given datasource.
get datasource[,datasource[,...]] - shows connection string of the given datasource (powercube type only).
set datasource - set connection string properties of the given datasource (powercube type only).
This will prompt for the WINDOWS_PATH and the UNIX_PATH values.
test [datasource[,datasource[,...]]] - tests connectivity to the given datasource.
Tests all available connections and signons.
stop service[,service[,...]] - stops the named service(s).
start service[,service[,...]] - starts the named service(s).
restart service[,service[,...]] - stops and starts the named service(s).
status [service[,service[,...]]] - shows status of the named service(s).
help - print this message.
exit - exit.
Sample script:

connect <servername>:9300
<namespace> <user_ID> <password>
set <data_source_name>
C:\cube_name1.mdc
