Some American slangs

Yesterday I learned these slangs from a rare English training lesson ^_^

1. night wol-----a person who likes to be active late at night(喜欢熬夜的人，俗话“夜猫子”，o(∩_∩)o...)
2. to hold your horse-----to think of,to be patient
3. to pull an all-nighter-----to stay up the whole night,esp. for preparing exams or meeting some tasks' deadline(开夜车)
4. peanuts-----an insignificant sum of money(极少的/微不足道的钱)
5. to clear the air-----dispel differences or negative emotions(消除误会/隔阂，摒弃前嫌)
6. to let your hair down-----to relax,behave in a free or uninhibited manner(不拘礼节)
7. on the up and up-----be faithful,honest(诚实，可靠)
8. always one step ahead-----proactively(有预见性的，先行一步)
9. to be beat-----to be tired,to be exhausted(累的，疲倦的)
10. better half-----one's partner in marriage(配偶，另一半)
11. to have a good head on your should-----to be clever,inteligent,smart(聪明的)
12. bell has been rung-----to be dying???(TDB, since I didn t catch it clearly )
13. Bite/Bit the dust-----to die(死去)   Everyone will eventually bite the dust.
14. with one hand tied behind one's back-----to do sth. very easily(做某事极其容易的<以致于只要一只手就可以完成>   :D )
15. to get along like a house on fire (with somebody)-----close,pretty good friends(极其要好的朋友)
16. Jam-Packed-----be crowded(拥挤的)
17. I'm all ears-----I'm ready to listen to you(洗耳恭听)
18. be expecting-----[slang]to be pregnant(【俚】怀孕了)
19. a fly on the wall-----someone who would like to be there secretly to see and hear what happens(不易觉察的人)
20. cold shoulder-----a refusal to recognize someone you know(冷淡对待)
21. sth. went right over your head-----didn't undersatnd sth.(对某事没有理解)
22. to learn the ropes-----to understand how to do a particular job or activity(找窍门，了解内情)
23. spinning your wheels-----met with trouble and be deeply stuck in,hopeless
24. Don't sweat it.-----don't worry/be nernous(别紧张)
25. tounge tied-----unable to express yourself clearly or fluently(结舌)
26. on the tip of one's tongue-----about to be said(呼之欲出，差点想起来) Her name is on the tip of my tongue.(一时记不起她的名字了)
27. call a spade a spade-----to tell the truth about sth., even if it is not polite or pleasant (实话实说，直言不讳)
28. to wait with bated breath-----waiting while holding your breath，excitedly,anxiously or nervously(屏息等待)
29. off the cuff-----with little or no preparation or forethought(未经准备，即兴地)
30. tickled pink-----extremly happy or pleased (for something in particular)(高兴极了，喜不自胜)
31. hit the roof-----get very angry and fly into a rage(勃然大怒，极度激动)
32. I'll sleep on it-----when you say this,it means you wanna think sth. over and decide it later(maybe tomorrow)(考虑考虑，明天再说)
33. pass the buck-----to blame someone or to make them responsible for sth./a problem that you should deal with yourself(推卸责任)
34. A little bird told me-----whenever you say this,it means you don't want tell others who indeed told you the news/secret(别问，有人悄悄告诉我的)
35. rain check-----a promise that a unexpected offer will be renewed in the future(延期，改日)
36. let's vamoose-----let's go


Ah,my!that's all eventually,I m totally beat now  :D
