Is it possible to delete items in bulk in SAP Business One? E.g. to delete 5 stock items all at once or an entire item group?
It is not possible to delete items in bulk, each item needs to be dealt with individually.
Item Master Data records can only be deleted if they have no linked transactions. As soon as an item code has been used in a marketing document or a stock transaction, this item code may no longer be removed, regardless if the transaction caused a journal entry or not.

Should a user attempt to remove such an item, the following error message will be received:
"You cannot remove this item; its transactions are linked to an object, 'itemcode' [Message 173-44]"
Should an item become superfluous, it can be hidden, such that it will no longer be available for selection in a marketing document or a stock transaction.
To hide an item, please follow the steps below:
- Stock -> Item Master Data -> Call up the item
- Right click in the header area -> select 'Cancel'
- Click on 'OK'
The result of this action is that the item will no longer be available for selection in a marketing document, but it will remain in the 'Choose from List' in the item master data:

The cancellation may be reversed by calling up the item using Stock -> Item Master Data -> Find * -> right click in header & select 'Restore'.
If an item is just temporarily out of stock, it may be put on hold by ticking the box 'On Hold' on the 'General' tab in the "Item Master Data" window:
As a result of this action, the item may be selected in a marketing document, but SAP Business One will only allow to save this document as draft:

The user will only be able to save the document to the permanent file once the item is no longer 'On Hold'. Please note that the 'To' & 'From' dates in the 'On Hold' functionality depend on the system date. |
