Department Description
A Sales Consultant (SC) at MySQL is responsible for providing pre-sales technical support as an integral part of the revenue generation activities in a territory consisting of one or more of:
OEM, ISV, Enterprise accounts and Web-Property businesses. Territories vary by country/region. A SC is both pre-sales technical support and a product evangelist for MySQL. The position requires public speaking, technical problem solving, and the ability to communicate with programmers, DBAs, and managers. The SC role reports to the Manager, Sales Consulting in the Global Business Unit.
Brief Posting Description
Provides direction and specialist knowledge in applying the technology/application to client business. Facilitation of customer product/application understanding through presentations demonstrations and benchmarks; provision of support throughout the sell.
Detailed Description
As a Staff Sales Consultant you will be responsible for providing presales technical / functional support to prospective clients and customers while ensuring customer satisfaction. Develop and
deliver high quality standard Oracle presentations and demonstrations. Present and articulate Oracle product*s strengths, features, benefits, and competitive advantages.
Design, validate, and present Oracle software solutions to include advanced product concepts, future direction, and 3rd party complimentary products.
Job Requirements
Duties and tasks are standard with some variation. Completes own role largely independently within defined policies and procedures.
3 - 5 years business experience preferred; vendor experience also preferred. 3 years relevant computer applications or database/tools preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in one multi-user operating system. Knowledge of system and application design preferred. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Ability to travel as needed. BA/BS degree or equivalent preferred.
Additional Details
This role has 2 main activities;
1) Based in Oracle Dalian office to help activities of MySQL Inside Sales and MySQL BDC team responsible for East Asian countries
2) Support Field Sales activities of Japan market, not limited to working remotely, traveling to meet with Japan is part of responsibilities.
Support achievement of sales monthly, quarterly and annual revenue objectives Manage the technical element of selected customer/business partner sales cycles Work with the Sales Executive to construct opportunity plans and TCO propositions Reduce/eliminate technical obstacles to winning the technical recommendation.
Ongoing technical qualification of opportunities Technical and competitive positioning of proposed solution Provide proof/reference points that proposed solutions are architecturally sound, and operationally manageable for the customer
Provide regular feedback to MySQL Marketing and Engineering on win/loss information
Work with selected MySQL Business Partners (Alliance,Reseller and SI Partners) to ensure their success.
Work closely with MySQL Professional Services to reach services revenue goals and ensure customer satisfaction
Communicate with and contribute to the worldwide SC community in MySQL
Contribute to User Group Events as required
Provide timely and accurate CRM and management reports as requested
Work with MySQL Marketing to conduct seminars, webinars, assist with trade shows, and other marketing related events in territory
Travel to customer locations, marketing events, and internal MySQL events as required Exercise prudent expense controls
Preferred Qualifications:
B.A. / B.S. or equivalent work experience
Experience in any database products and and infrastructure software, experience of MySQL highly preferred Chinese and Japanese (JLPT Level 1 or N1)
5 years track record in software solution pre-sales, with database experience highly preferred
Candidate must be located in designated territory
Energetic, upbeat, tenacious team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Outstanding relationship building skills with a high degree of responsiveness and integrity
Familiarity with database, application server, web server, and other enterprise markets and technologies Highly mobile, with experience of driving business whilst on the move
Multiple languages and/or multi-country experience is an advantage
