Hi everybody,

I would like to use this opportunity to introduce myself briefly and describe my involvement with Compiere.

I am a 26 year master student (University of Karlsruhe) from Germany currently writing my master thesis in a subsidary of a mid-size German manufacturing company in Shanghai. My project is to implement an ERP system as a practical part and also to document some theory of it for the master thesis.
After some initial research and software evaluation Compiere seemed very promising and we decided to proceed with it. The current status is that I have Compiere running and testing now. As the company needs manufacturing functionality which definitely is a weak point in the basic Compiere package I have now installed Kompiere (from the mexican Compiere partner e-evolution.com) and will also investigate the Starprise project from the Indonesian Compierepartner goodwill.co.id
I am glad for any information both technical on implementing and customizing Compiere as well as practical related to Client experiences and (successfull or unsuccessful ;-) implementations.

My background is that I have studied Industrial Engineering and Management with focus on Informatics and Operations Research. This also included some projects on Java and I am familiar with SQL (I haven't used Oracle much and Postgre not so far, only Mysql).

If somebody is interested in my work I will also be glad to share my experiences and provide you with the thesis (once it is submitted, since it needs to be unpublished before).
I also hope that the English part of the Forum will become (more) active :-)
