Hi Long, sorry for the delay in answer.
Thanks Colin for introducing me ;-)
> my company is a construction company (our projects are
> building, house,...). I want to ask you all that:
> is ADempiere suitable for us
It depends on your needs.
My "canned answer" would be - YES - Adempiere is suitable to any company.
There are common functionalities from all companies and they're well covered in adempiere.
And every industry has some specific needs - and the trick of the implementation is to make adempiere fulfill those specific needs.
Most of needs can be covered just with configuration modeling adempiere processes and documents to company needs.
And some needs require development.
We implemented Adempiere in a construction company.
You can read some words from general manager here:
http://www.globalqss.com/portal/content/view/30/1/lang,es/
(Sorry, just spanish, you can try google translation, not the best, but can give you an idea of what he said).
We modeled well the process of pulling out raw material during the construction attached to a project, and at the end finishing the construction, costing the building, and entering in inventory to sell them.
Also we modeled the process of pre-selling without the building terminated, and also the "promise" to sell implemented via a sales order, the invoice can just be issued when the building is terminated and the apartment is "shipped".
Etc. etc.
Even we modeled an interface to import payroll invoices from a third party tool. The "payroll" invoices are imported to Adempiere and we manage the payment of the payroll.
And even we extended the model - just with the payroll invoices we create all the other needed invoices to complete the payroll (for example payment to health insurance companies, budget of vacations, etc).
> and project managemt module is stable enough to use?
In this case this company decided to not use project module. We use project module JUST at the first level - I mean we use projects, but we don't use phases or tasks.
All the building process and control is managed via an external system they have.
In future we plan to make it work via project module - extending adempiere. I guess as it is today project module can't cover the needs, it needs some development.
------------
Off topic:
Lee said "openbravo is more suitable" - but I doubt it.
The project module is the same from Compiere.
What they have in addition is a manufacturing module - but what we have found is the common manufacturing process is not applicable to construction industry. Maybe with some adjustments.
Anyways - it's ok to give a try to openbravo too and feedback us about if possible.
