Principal/Senior PeopleSoft Performance Engineer

Department Description:
Oracle is actively seeking senior software developers to join the PeopleSoft Performance Engineering team. We are looking for the brightest people with proven experience who have openness to learning and willingness to share. The work environment is process oriented, collaborative, and results focused. The positions are based in Beijing, China and will work with teams in the US and India and the rest of the world.
PeopleSoft Enterprise business applications are used by over 5000 of the largest enterprises around the world. These applications are developed using PeopleTools which serves as the tooling and technology infrastructure layer. PeopleTools products consist of application development tools, a business logic layer, reporting, integration, lifecycle management and Portal solutions; and are built using object oriented technologies such as C++ and Java, web technologies, SOA and web services. PeopleSoft Enterprise applications run on a variety of platforms, application servers and databases.
The PeopleSoft Enterprise Performance & Benchmark team works with the PeopleSoft Enterprise and PeopleTools development organizations to maximize the performance of the PeopleSoft Enterprise products. We review and approve proposed PeopleSoft Enterprise and PeopleTools designs. We actively participate in evolving development processes, performance guidelines and best practices for the PeopleSoft Enterprise and PeopleTools development organizations. We test the performance of the PeopleSoft Enterprise and PeopleTools. We identify performance problems by profiling PeopleSoft Enterprise and PeopleTools components. We actively participate in the performance resolution with PeopleSoft Enterprise and PeopleTools development. We produce PeopleSoft Enterprise benchmarks, toolkits and performance white papers. In addition, we help PeopleSoft Enterprise and PeopleTools develop! ment res! olve customer performance issues.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Senior Performance Engineer, you have a passion to improve the performance and quality of PeopleSoft Enterprise Applications; by leveraging your extensive implementation and design experience, proven Oracle Database & SQL tuning of large, com! plex business critical applications (like Payroll, Financials, Banking, Manufacturing, HR, Online Store). Be able to analyze quickly the performance behavior of any applications on any tier. You can identify performance problem in the application design and predict bad performance under stress load and large data volume. Explain why the performance problem occurs or when it will occur. Explain how these performance problems can be avoided by environments tuning, Database & SQL tuning or application design changes in any of its tiers. Discuss potential solutions with development, customers; provide guidance to the cost (time and delivery) and feasibility of solutions. You can provide elaborate short term and long term solutions. Using widely accepted performance engineering methodologies and best practices, you will collaborate with product managers, developers, customers, and other performance engineers to conduct comprehensive end-to-end performance engineering for PeopleSoft PeopleTools a! nd Applications products and support resolving customer performance escalations. The work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. As an individual contributor and as a team member you will provide direction and mentoring to others.
The responsibilities will include:
? Analyze application performance and identify issues
? Explain why and how the performance issues are happening
? Provide potential solutions to performance issues
? Explain advantage and disadvantages of solutions to performance issues
? Work with development on critical customer performance issues
? Discuss performance problems; propose performance solutions and tuning recommendations.
Understand/gather performance test requirements, prepare suitable test case and test plan
? Complete ownership and responsibility on installation, administration, data loading and tuning the PeopleSoft application environment
? Design & automation of test scripts using HP Load Runner/QTP and Oracle eLoad performance testing tools
? Execute performance test for online and batch transactions
? Collect respect performance metrics and publish test results.
Knowledge & skills requirement:
? Outstanding academic background, with B.Tech/M.Tech/BS/MS degree in Computer Science/Computer Information Systems.
? 6-8 years of experience working in enterprise software development and/or support environment
? Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the software development life c! ycle (SDLC) including analysis, design, implementation, testing and delivery.
? Experience working with complex multi-tier architecture, integrated solutions and third party products is desirable.
? Experience working on Enterprise Software/Internet applications, either web based or shrinks wrapped. PeopleSoft or any other ERP application an advantage. Extensive implementation experienced is desirable.
? Proven experience in Oracle Database & SQL tuning of large complex business critical appl! ications (e.g. Financials/Supply Chain/Manufacturing/HR/Payroll/Banking/Telecommunications etc).
? Experience in Tuning Web/Application Server
? ! ; Advanced background in following skillsets:
- Master of performance testing, tuning & benchmarks concepts and methodologies
-Master at Oracle Database Administration & Tuning
-Master at Oracle Database monitoring and tuning tools
-Master of SQL analysis and tuning
Experience in multi-platform development, including UNIX-based platforms (Linux preferred), and Windows
Experience in performance metrics collection tools on UNIX/Windows/Linux OS, third party software.
Experience in using load test tools to do scripting, test execution (LoadRunner, etc)
Experience in Performance Profiling tools for JAVA, C++ code
Experience in automating test process using Perl, Shell scripting etc
Knowledge in JAVA, C++ progra! mming will be an advantage.
Ability to multi-task and thrive in a dynamic environment
High degree of professionalism and integrity
Dedicated team player, and excellent communication skills. Fluent spoken and written English skills are mandatory.
